End of the Year Estate Planning Part 1

As the month progresses, we are getting closer and closer to the end of 2015. While it might seem like we were just celebrating the New Year, it is, in fact, almost over. With that in mind, it’s time to start considering end of the year estate planning. Our attorney in Raleigh NC is here to help you by offering a few tips.
There are several things that probably won’t change this year. Things like buying or selling a business, choosing a different executor or beneficiary aren’t typical updates. They do however, happen, so it’s important to remember as soon as they do change, this information should be updated in your estate plan.
It is also possible that you haven’t looked at your estate plan in years. If this is the case, there are several updates you might need to make. It's important to make changes and additions each year, as not doing so might cause your estate plan to become invalid. When that happens, it might not hold up in a court of law. Working with an attorney to make sure these changes happen is key.
Over the course of the next several blog posts, you’ll find several more tips that should help you build your estate plan and keep it up to date.
